Old School Catfish Fishing

Fishing Trip Planning

Fishing Trip Planning

If you want to plan a fantastic fishing trip and money is not an issue I suggest that you rent a fishing lodge for a week. A fishing lodge provides all the amenities of home but in natures beautiful setting. Fishing lodges are available at most lakes and many come with a fishing boat dock.

If you have a fishing boat, great. If not you can rent any type of fishing boat you want and park it at the dock of your fishing lodge. If you have more than three people with you you might want to think about renting a pontoon boat to fish from.

The next thing you will want to do for your fishing trip is set up a fishing charter. Having a fishing charter will insure that you get the most out of your fishing trip. A local guide will show you all the good spots on the lake and what bait to use. Having a fishing charter will ensure that you have a great day of fishing and if you plan it early you can return to locations you were shown over and over.

With that said I realize there are a lot of people that can not afford to do all of the above but I do recommend that if you are taking a trip and want to spend at least one day fishing you should consider a fishing charter. They will provide a guide, a boat and all the fishing tackle needed. It is a lot of fun you will catch a lot of fish most of which you will release but you can keep enough for dinner.

Fishing Guides For Your Vacation?

Are fishing guides a good idea? If your planning a vacation and you want to go fishing you might want a fishing guide if:

1.    You are planning a first time fishing experience for your self or members of your family.
2.    You don’t have a boat but want access to the best locations for the type of fish you want.
3.    Having decided when you started the trip you were not going to go fishing but since have changed your mind but are without equipment.
4.    You are not familiar with the waters you plan on fishing.
5.    Or you simply want to discover the best locations on your local waters and what baits tend to work best.

A good fishing guide can do this for you. They can be found on the internet or in the local phone directory. The best way, if you can, is to question the people at bait shop located near where you want to fish. I have always found the people who own or work in the bait shops to be very knowledgeable about the local guides and many other things fishing related as well.

If you must reserve a fishing guide through the internet there are a couple things you should look at or do before you shell out $200 or more.

1.    Look at as many websites as you can. If they don’t have a website its probably because it is just a part time job for them.
2.    Select 3-4 and call them. If you don’t have contact information cross them off your list. Explain what you want and listen to what they have to say. Pick the one you like best at this point.
